Parish Life at St. James the Less

"Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it". Hebrews 13:1

This commission tends to the care giving and fellowship activities of parish life. From program dinners to meals for families in crisis, we support the community through acts of love and concern.

Prayer Request Card: Please print, fill out, and bring or send to the office (requires Acrobat Reader).

New Member Ministry: This committee serves in a number of ways to welcome and incorporate newcomers into the parish community. Committee work includes preparation of newcomer brochures, hosting newcomer gatherings and providing ongoing mentoring and support.

Greeters: These are the welcoming faces a visitor encounters upon entering the church, who distribute Newcomer Brochures, and assist with name tags and directions. As a sign of welcome and hospitality, a loaf of bread is delivered to newcomers.

Fellowship Committee: The Fellowship Committee coordinates parish-wide social activities throughout the year as well as organizes the Sunday coffee hour.

Good Samaritans: This group helps those who may need transportation, meals and other assistance.

Communications: Coordination of timely communication is the focus of this group. Communication vehicles include the parish web site and the monthly newsletter, The Less Said.

Knitting Group: Knitters gather on Tuesday mornings for fellowship and to knit hats and mittens to distribute to Cathedral Shelter and other organizations.

Bridge Group: This group meets monthly for social fun and also provides an annual gift to a selected Episcopal charity.

The Book Group: This group meets monthly in parishioners’ homes to discuss books.

Copy Cats: This group provides auxiliary office support.
