Youth at St. James the Less

About our Youth Group...

The Youth Group at St. James the Less is an active group of middle school and high school students who come together to work and play in the spirit of faith and fun! Activities range from a week-long mission trip during the summer to game nights to volunteering with Special Olympics. In addition, youth are invited to “Breakfast in the Kitchen” on most second and third Sunday mornings to chat about upcoming events and what's going on. All students in high school and middle school are encouraged to join us frequently or occasionally. And friends are always welcome!

Check out some pictures of our youth in action in the Photo Album section. Now available– pictures from the Summer 2006 New Orleans Youth Mission Trip! Also, please click here to see "The Lifeline" - the newsletter of Contemplatives in Action, which features a nice picture of the youth who went on the mission trip and has more information about New Orleans.

FAQ's about Youth Group

When and where do we meet? The schedule of events is posted on the web, but most events are planned on Sunday evenings.

How can I find out about the fun youth events? There are so many ways to find out what's going on: 1). church bulletin, 2). weekly e-mails, 3). seasonal youth newsletters (fall, winter and spring), 4). youth bulletin board in the parish hall, 5). youth calendar posted on the church's website (www.stjamestheless.org), 6). Call or e-mail us.

Can I bring a friend? We love it when you bring friends. They are always welcome.

Does any kid from my school go to youth group? Our church members come from Northfield and all the towns that surround it. Sometimes almost every kid that comes to Youth Group comes from a different school. So don't let that stop you from coming and having fun! Besides once you hang out with them for the night, you've made a new friend anyway, right?! You can always invite someone to come with you.

What kind of things do we do at youth group? Our schedule is always different. We do a variety of activities that range from field trips, service activities, lock-ins, having breakfast together and much more.

Do I bring anything with me? We ask that everyone bring a two-liter drink - juice, pop, etc. If you would like to share baked goods, 'to be baked' goods, or store bought yummies, we would appreciate them tremendously. Please leave any food donations in the kitchen in the cabinet above the coffeemaker marked for youth group. Also to defray costs, we will occasionally ask for cash donations.

How do I get in touch with you if I have a question? Please call Carl Burke at Church at (847) 446-8430 x207 (leave a message). Or, you can email Carl at the following address: Youthgroup@stjamestheless.org
