Calling all youth, from littles to teens! Our dates are firmed up for our August Compassion Camp—a five-week Sunday series designed to provide some hands-on work around caring; for each other, our world and ourselves. As we ready ourselves for a modified version of school—whatever that might look like—it is extra important to take care of the hearts and minds of our youth. Connecting to one another and to the nourishing presence of God can help our kids develop trust and faith during these unpredictable times.
I will be making calls and visits to our families the week of July 27—saying hello and delivering spiritually-rich, August Compassion Camp optional reading materials and crafts. (My hello will be from the yard or sidewalk and with a mask.) Then for five Sundays beginning August 2, we will have a combination of Zoom/live streaming worship services for our littles and middles, time to be determined. Additionally, for our teens, we will kick off August with an in-person (socially distanced) Compassion S’mores Bonfire (grades 7-12) on Sunday night, August 2, at 7:30 p.m.
In September, we will once again be moving to Godly Play and other sacred forms of youth worship via live streaming, recorded or in-person depending on how things unfold with the virus. The notion of being flexible has become a cornerstone for all of us! Please know that St. James the Less is committed to providing youth programming that adheres to directives yet nourishes our youth however we can creatively make that happen.
