Advent is officially under way and what a joy it was to visit and connect with our families! Donned with masks and gear, Reverend Lisa and I were able to see friends we had not seen in months. Our hope is that these Advent packages can empower your family to create sacred space each week, right in your home, at your own time and pace. (If you or someone you know might enjoy these materials, just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I can get them a package.) Be sure to email us some photos of some of the crafts and coloring pages you and/or your kiddos do!
In the next two weeks, we will be reaching out to our SJTL individuals and families to participate in our Virtual Christmas Pageant! There are cleverly crafted roles for all ages and anyone that is interested can be videotaped right at home to be included in the final version. All of the videos will be compiled, edited, and musically enhanced by our very own Jimmy Alcorn! Our “Do Not Be Afraid Virtual Christmas Pageant” will be unveiled near or on Christmas Eve.
Finally, our teens got together on Zoom this past Sunday and are working on their own Advent projects—meditations, photos of #Advent Words and service projects that include connecting via snail mail with some of our parishioners who are staying close to home because of the pandemic. We are fortunate to have such vibrant, thoughtful teenagers in this community—(Great job, parents!)—and it is my joy to be with them.
May you find some small snippets of peace in this season of darkness and please stay safe. We will get through this—“Do Not Be Afraid!”
