PLAN A VISIT:
What to Wear:
We’re St. James the Less, we could care less what you wear! There is no set ‘look’ at St. James. Parishioners wear whatever is most comfortable for them — children too. Please wear whatever works for you.
Services:
Services are at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sunday. The service at 8 a.m. is small, more intimate and without choral accompaniment. Most parishioners worship at the 10 a.m. service, which is family friendly, has a choir and lasts one hour. Coffee hour follows the service in the parish hall and we hope you will join us for fellowship and refreshments.
Where to Park:
There is plenty of parking. Most parishioners park behind the church and enter at the rear doors into the parish hall. As you enter you will see a large table where parishioners gather to pick up their name tags. Name tags are optional but most parishioners choose to wear them. There are also blank name tags on the table for visitors whom we hope will also chose to wear them. There are also red welcome bags on the table for visitors. The welcome bags provide information about our parish and the outreach programs we support.
Navigating the Church:
As you enter the parish hall, restrooms are on the west side of the church and the church nursery in on your right down the hall. The entrance to the church sanctuary is to your left.
Child Care:
We have a fully staffed nursery with certified caretakers for infants to 4-year-olds. The nursery is in the south wing of the church proper. Parents can choose to take their children to the nursery or accompany their parents into church.
Older children begin worship with their parents in the church. Shortly after the beginning of the service a certified Sunday school teacher will walk down the main aisle with a large white cross and gather the children who wish to attend Sunday school. Sunday school lasts about one half hour. After Sunday school all children return to the church before communion. All children are welcome to go to the altar with their parents to either to receive communion or a blessing from our priest, Megan Miller.
We look forward to your visit! Please call Jane at our church office (847-446-8430) if you have any questions or would like more information.
