Our Community Food Garden is lovingly tended by parishioners. Over 2,000 pounds of produce are donated from our garden annually to the Northfield Township Food Pantry. Learn more below!
We're Out in the Garden
We meet in the Community Food Garden at 9:00 a.m on Saturday mornings to garden together. What can you do? Tend your own garden plot, if you have one. No plot of your own, then come and help care for the plots growing food to be given to the Northfield Food Pantry. Enjoy a piece of God's Creation as we work in community.
Everyone is welcome!
No experience necessary. There are tasks and responsibilities for every skill level!
"Family Plots" & "Pantry PLots"
Family plots are reserved by families and individuals every year for the purpose of growing fresh fruits and vegetables for their personal use. Pantry plots are tended by everyone, and 100% of the produce grown in these plots goes to the Northfield Township Food Pantry.
Who tends the garden?
The garden is maintained by plot-holders (those families and individuals who reserved plots) and volunteers.
Help in the Garden
Join us on Saturday mornings at 9:00 a.m. to help with weeding, watering, and harvesting the Pantry Plots!
Future Garden plans
We removed dead trees and opened up space to add more community garden and pantry plots. We have discussed ideas which include green house for year round food production, storage shed, a meditation garden and many other enhancing features. We were featured in the Winnetka Talk section of the Chicago Tribune.
Questions? Interested in a Family plot?
If you would like to reserve a family plot, please call the Parish Office - 847-446-8430 and ask to speak with Deacon Ron. We look forward to your participation.
