A Community Living in Gratitude
Our worship is ancient, our minds are open,
all are welcome to join us in living our lives as a thank offering to God.
all are welcome to join us in living our lives as a thank offering to God.
Be gentle, forgive yourself and do not be afraid to wait. – Mildred Reyes
These words struck me this morning as needed. So often forgiveness is about ourselves more than any trespass done to us. “Why did I do that?”, “Why didn’t I know?” , “I should have acted and responded.” The compassion we give to ourselves turns out to be where we find the strength to forgive another.
Jesus said, Forgive as you have been forgiven. Forgiveness is not easy and it is not impossible. It is a daily choice.
In meditation we practice attaching to our true identity in God- “Whose mercy reaches to the heavens.”
I invite you to a morning together practicing meditation and reaching out for God’s mercy for ourselves, others and for the world. Expect scripture, poetry, music and art to support a sense of God with us. I will offer some short teachings and time for reflection in solitude and as a group.

Here at St. James the Less, parishioners seek to witness the transformational love of God through ministries that praise God and reach out.
Episcopalians are Anglicans in America and our worship services creatively honor the ancient liturgies of the church using both traditional and contemporary language. We are an inclusive community and all faith backgrounds are welcome to receive the sacrament of Holy Communion offered each week at our two principle worship services. A dynamic community of all ages, we practice the Christian faith together in many ways including regular Meditation Groups, a growing Community Food Garden open to the public, and creative, meaningful liturgies like our Candlelit Good Friday Taize Service and The Beatles Mass. St. James the Less worships God in action as well as word. Our outreach ministries strive to share our gifts to care for those on the edge of life in our village, in the city of Chicago, and in the world. There is some way for all people to participate in sharing the love of God by feeding, clothing, and walking along side those in need. |
